Chapter 29

Tyler stood in front of his pack. "As you have heard, Lilly is part fairy. She did not keep this a secret from me, but it was something I found out after I had already made her my luna. I have always been fair to our pack, and I would like to hear if anyone has any valid objections to keeping her as your luna." The pack looked at him quietly and shared glances among themselves.

"I do. I don't see why she is more fit to be the luna of this pack than I am. I'm a member of this pack, and I am full werewolf. I think, since I know this pack better, I would make a better luna," Jessica spoke up loudly.

Tyler glared at her angrily. He was tolerating her behavior so far because he felt he owed it to her, for more reasons than just her being his ex-fiancé. However, she was now openly opposing his mate, and he tightened his fists trying to suppress his anger.

"Well I don't! Lilly is my luna. I will not accept another luna besides her. I will go where she goes." Cedric's voice boomed loudly in anger. "This is my one and only stance. It will not change. As such, I will now go to be by her side, regardless of the decision this pack makes. "Cedric announced his loyalties to Lilly. If the pack voted against her, he would also be leaving. He walked off towards the pack house. He didn't have any more to say. He was going to find Lilly and stay by her side, no matter what.

"I agree with Cedric. Lilly is my luna and I also will not accept another luna. I was born in this pack, and Tyler is my cousin. I love my cousin and alpha, but I will not accept any luna but Lilly. Lilly is kind, generous, loving, and confident. She is the kind of luna that other packs would love to have. I will not abandon her. If Lilly goes, I

will also go." Avery's word sent a rippling event of hushed tones

through the pack. If Avery leaves, Caleb would leave. They would lose their Gamma, their third in command. The fact that Avery so boldly backed her, being tied to Tyler by blood, helped give the pack confidence in Lilly.

"The alpha is my best friend. As such, I am compelled to say this. There can be no other luna but Lilly. This would be a devastating blow to our alpha, and to our pack. We need Lilly. She is our chosen luna. Who here wishes to deny the will of the moon goddess? She chose them as mates, and for her to be our luna. I will continue to stay by Tyler's side no matter what, but I will not acknowledge any other luna but Lilly." Kade smiled as he looked at Tyler. These strong stances were not against Tyler, but for Tyler. He would be devastated if the pack voted Lilly out.

Tyler was smiling inwardly. It was appropriate to take such a strong stance, to show the pack they could have faith in Lilly because the higher ranks had faith in her.

"If Lilly is not welcome in this pack, then I will follow my mate. My place is with her." Tyler finally voiced his position and then waited to hear from the rest of the pack.

"I choose Lilly as our luna." Lonnie spoke proudly. His voice started the rippling effect of the pack unanimously choosing for Lilly to be their luna.

"Jessica, I do not accept you as my luna, nor will I ever. Because of my loyalties to your brother, I have overindulged you, even felt guilt towards you. I felt guilty for your brother's death, but I don't love you. You can either accept Lilly as your luna or leave the pack. I cannot continue to feel remorse towards you anymore, or allow you to act inappropriately. I am no longer your fiancé, but your alpha who

already has his mate." Tyler watched as Jessica's face paled. It was not the outcome she was hoping for. She turned and took off

running. Tyler needed to make their relationship clear to the pack. He did not want them to be confused about his loyalties. He was loyal to Lilly.

He had always felt guilty towards Jessica, ever since the big war they were in years ago. Her brother, Cody, was killed protecting him. Not only was Cody his Delta, but he was his best friend. His friend's death haunted him. It was a wound he had always carried, ever since that day. He vowed to never take another Delta. The position would remain empty in honor of his dear friend.

Cody would still be alive if he hadn't pushed Tyler out of the way of danger. While he was dying, Tyler promised him that he would look out for his sister in his stead. He had felt so guilty and, as a result, he tried to look after Jessica like he promised. So that's what he did. Then, when he didn't find his mate, and he knew Jessica had fallen for him, he decided to marry her. He made a lot of bad decisions because of his remorse, and even ended up hurting his mate because of it. He couldn't feel responsible anymore. He couldn't continue to hurt his mate. Jessica was not a child, and he could no longer look out for her. He had Lilly now. It was after meeting Lilly that the nightmares of Cody finally stopped. She was healing him, and he was finally able to see things clearly.

Lilly walked through the barrier to see the creatures waiting for her. The moment she walked out, they began to gather excitedly around her, bouncing up and down trying to attract her attention. Most of them were very small, like the brownies she had seen earlier. There were a few larger ones in the distance, though.

Lilly heard the loud thudding of hooves. She glanced up to see a half-man, half-horse creature approach her. It was a centaur. Lilly didn't even know that centaurs existed. She watched as he slowed down and came to a halt a few feet away from her. She was surprised that she wasn't afraid. Instead, she looked at him curiously and marveled at him in awe. He was magnificent. He was so big. He had the back half of a full-sized horse, but the chest, arms, and head of a man.

"What are you doing out here by yourself?" The centaur asked, looking around the wooded area.

Eeeek, he talks too. This is amazing, Lilly thought to herself, trying to not act like a fan girl at a rock concert. "I wanted to see the fairies that had come to greet me. What are you doing out here all alone?"

The centaur looked at her before bursting out laughing. "There's a big difference between you and me wandering around alone." His face grew serious and then he looked at her intently. "Where's your guardian?"

"He hasn't arrived yet. How are you connected to the fairies?" He was not a fairy but was clearly in league with them.

"There are many different creatures that are aligned with fairies. Some are more than allies, but are protectors. Centaurs have a kinship with fairies." The wind blew, and a cold chill swirled in the air. "It isn't safe for you here. Let me take you back with me."

"This is my pack territory. I'm okay." Lilly motioned behind her and heard the slight scoff from the centaur.

"They aren't doing a good job taking care of you if you are out here all alone. I insist you come with me until the guardian arrives." The Centaur reached out his hand to Lilly.

Lilly stared at his hand and then backed away from him. She may be mad at Tyler, but she had no intention of leaving, especially with a centaur that she had just met. How did she know he was someone to be trusted? Plus, she could take care of herself and there was safety with her pack. She couldn't just leave them; she was their luna.

"You are correct in being cautious, young fairy." He reached his hand down and a few fairies hopped onto his hand. "Do you not trust your kind? They know I'm trustworthy. Please come with me."

"You may be on my side, but I still can't leave. I belong here with my mate and my pack." Lilly tried to make it sound like she was an important member, even though she felt otherwise. Even still, she couldn't just leave. This centaur was underestimating her ability to protect herself. Inside of her, she had a vicious wolf who could fight and hold her ground.

The centaur turned his head and looked off in the distance. "I'm sorry, please forgive me."

He reached his hand towards her and then her world went black. The centaur caught her unconscious body and held it closely in his arms

before riding away. He ran with intense speed, taking her further and further away from the area. He jumped into a creek and rode into it, hiding his tracks so that no one could follow. He continued to ride away from her pack and away from the other growing danger.

Cedric had searched through the pack house, and when he saw that she wasn't in there, he ventured out into the woods. He wasn't sure where she went. He was having a hard time finding her scent. He trailed her to the edge of his barrier and just to the other side. Then her tracks vanished. Her scent vanished. He looked around on the ground for any sign of her. His eyes fell upon hoof prints embedded in the dirt and he sighed angrily. He ripped his barrier down and quickly mind linked with Tyler.

We have a problem. Lilly has been taken. Cedric winced as he heard the loud roar inside of the pack territory.

Who took her? We're taking her back immediately. I am going to destroy whoever took my mate. Tyler's voice was dark and icy.

That's not going to happen. We won't be able to get her back without the guardian. Wait for me at the pack house. I'm on my way and will explain. Cedric shifted into his wolf and raced back to the pack house. He needed to get in touch with the guardian. The centaurs wouldn't hand Lilly over without a fight unless it was to a guardian. The centaurs wouldn't harm her, but they would try to keep her.
